I have had the best time discovering other food blogs! And I have tried many of their recipes. Some with great success, and well, some not so much. That’s only because I am rarely able to cook anything that BOTH my boys will BOTH like. It’s been that way since they were little. One prefers ketchup and the other prefers mustard. They’ve always been opposite like that, and it is frustrating as Hell. Especially now that I’m getting older and I’m suffering from CRS (Can’t Remember $hit). Now I can’t remember which one liked what and which one didn’t. I inevitably get it wrong every time. Oh well. I try.
My whole point is that I love to share the successes. This past weekend, to accompany the Italian Pork Sandwiches, I made Something’s Burning’s Broccoli and Cauliflower Salad.

Broccoli and Cauliflower Salad
1 lb. fresh cauliflower, chopped
1 lb. fresh broccoli, chopped
1 small onion, chopped
1/3 C apple cider vinegar
2/3 C mayonnaise
1/3 C sugar
1 tsp salt
Clean, chop and combine vegetables. mix well. Combine remaining ingredients and blend well. Pour over vegetables stirring well to cover all. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
It was so delicious!! You really should go check out her other recipes. I’ve found several that I’ve made with great success, and I’m sure you will too.

This one was perfect because one of my boys eats broccoli and the other eats cauliflower. They could just pick out whichever they preferred. Also it was something that I put together the night before, so it was one less dish I had to worry about that morning while making lunch. With the added benefit of being a vegetable, I must add. Even though my boys are grown, I STILL try to make my meals balanced most of the time. I try.

Someone was just telling me Friday about a time that they had dinner with a friend and the friend took a big pot with peanut oil in it and after it got hot they tossed in broccoli & caulflower in for a few minutes to deep fry it. They said it was the most delicious vegetable they had ever eaten.
I love broccoli and cauliflower! Always have – even as a kid. This leads me to believe that i was hatched and am certainly not of the human persuasion!
Hmmmm, fussy kids – we weren’t allowed to leave the table unless our plates were clean and that was the end of that! Tee hee – I have some fantastic recipes, but they involve things like apples, leeks, pork sausages and tomato all in one dish, served on rice – if you think your boys will eat that lemme know and I will happily send it to you!
Lotsa luffs
Me!
